About us

The sisters of our lady queen of Africa (SOLQA) is a religious organization founded in 1903 by the most Rev. Adolph Lechaptois, then Apostolic Prefect of Tanganyika Prefecture which comprised of the present area covered by the Dioceses of Kigoma, Mbala (in Zambia), Mbeya and Sumbawanga. This foundation was initially put under the patronage of St Peter Claver and entrusted to the care of the Sisters of Our Lady Queen of Africa  known as White Sisters.

Despite of all the inward challenges that the foundation faced, the time has reached for its decree of Erection from the Apostolic See in 1949 and in 1970 and got its first indigenous Mother General. During this journey most have been done in different territories around the foundation’s native area and with God’s loveliness and backing, the evangelization and societal contribution services have been spread to other places step by step within Tanzania and now since March 2019 expanded in Rwanda.
